The course contains the following subjects: units of measurement, motion, linear kinematics; force, mass, acceleration, Newton's laws of motion; Newton's laws of motion, law of conservation of momentum; combining forces, turning effects of forces, Hooke's law; work, energy and power; density and pressure; kinetic theory of matter; ideal gases and the gas laws; heat capacity, latent heat; transfer of heat, conduction, convection and radiation; light, reflection of light; refraction of light, total internal reflection; lenses, ray diagrams, the eye and the camera; wave motion, the wave equation, some wave properties; electro-magnetic spectrum, colour; electric charge; current electricity, circuits and resistance; power and energy, mains electricity; magnetism and electro-magnets; meters and motors, Fleming's left-hand rule; generators and transformers, Fleming's right-hand rule, Faraday's law, Lenz's law; electrons; radioactivity, atoms and nuclei; revision and specimen examination questions. | |||||||||||||||||||
